Planning the Purr-fect Caturday Bash
When Sami, AnnieBelle, and Charly decided they wanted to throw a party, I thought, Why not? It’s Caturday, after all. They insisted that this would be no ordinary gathering; it would be a “BYOB” (Bring Your Own Box) extravaganza. Because let’s be honest, every cat knows a good box is the key to happiness.
The Menu: Fancy Feast of the Century
Our trio of party planners put together a five-star menu guaranteed to get every tail twitching. Here’s what was on the menu:
- Fish Finger Sandwiches: Fresh tuna slices between crispy fish crackers. (Sami’s favorite!)
- Salmon Sliders: Mini bites of perfect salmon, delicately placed on cat-safe crackers.
- Chicken Pâté Bites: AnnieBelle’s contribution, served on tiny catnip garnish.
- Catnip Cupcakes: Soft, moist, and packed with just enough nip to get the party started.
- Kitty Cocktails: A refreshing blend of filtered water with a sardine garnish. Classy, right?
Games That Are the Cat’s Meow
A party isn’t a party without some games, and my cats didn’t disappoint. They planned a line-up of kitty-approved activities that kept the room buzzing (and purring).
- Find the Catnip
A trail of catnip was sprinkled across the house, leading to a big surprise stash hidden in an empty tissue box. It took Charly exactly 3.4 seconds to find it and claim the prize. He did not share. - Hide and Seek the Laser
Imagine a red dot of mystery darting around the room. Now imagine five cats diving, sliding, and smacking into walls, trying to catch it. Sami, being the “elder statesman,” just watched and judged. - In & Out of the Cat Tunnel
Cats raced through a tunnel obstacle course with twists and turns. AnnieBelle won for her speed and style, gracefully exiting the tunnel like a runway model. - Knock It Off the Shelf
Each cat had 30 seconds to knock as many items off a shelf as possible. Sami proved to be the reigning champ, nailing three mugs, a plant, and a random pair of sunglasses before his time was up. - Musical Boxes
Like musical chairs but with boxes! The music (soft meows on repeat) played while the cats circled the boxes. When it stopped, they dove in. It was every cat for themselves, and it got very competitive. Being the smallest, Charly always squeezed into the last box, winning every round.
The After-Party: Grooming and Catnaps
After all the games and snacks, the cats settled into their boxes for some well-deserved relaxation. But first, there was a group grooming session because nothing says “bonding,” like licking each other’s ears.
Finally, they curled up in their boxes—some solo, some stacked in a purr-pile—and fell into a deep nap. I must admit, it was adorable, even if I was the one left cleaning up the catnip confetti.

As the party planner (a.k.a. the human), I’d call this Caturday bash a roaring—er, meowing—success. Sami, AnnieBelle, and Charly are already talking about the next one, which might involve a “Fancy Collar” theme. Stay tuned!
